Beyond Tiny was created from the basic allure of the tiny house movement. I couldn’t get enough of the tiny house shows and learning all there was to learn about every detail of a build and the creativity that went into it. Finally, I decided it was my turn. I was going to take the plunge and build my very own customized tiny home. And, I was going to get my hands on some passive income.

It took about a year but after that year, I was able to say I had done it. I had built my first tiny house. And, I couldn’t have been more proud and thrilled with the results.

My initial thought was to rent it out on AirBnB, but I was nervous and not certain if that was the best avenue for me. But after some time, I made the decision to move forward with renting it. The game changer was renting it to travel professionals. Not only was it a huge success, I found that I needed more “tinies” to meet the need of the short term rental market.

With this in mind, I ventured out and completed a rebuild on a Scotty Serro vintage trailer. It was a complete tear down, all the way to the frame. Then it was rebuilt and redesigned. Watching this build come together was amazing. We were able to add so much to it while staying true to its vintage roots. It soon had its own place within Beyond Tiny and travelers were enjoying her as much as I did in restoring her.

During these two builds, I began being asked by various people about the process of building a customized tiny home. People wondering if they too could build a tiny house or restore a vintage trailer. Others wanted to know more about having passive income in renting a tiny house or an ADU.

Of course I offered as much guidance and reassurance as I could. I let them know that if I could do it, they could do it too.

I quickly began to realize that there was an enormous amount of people filled with the same curiosity, excitement and even fear about building a tiny house that I had when I first started this adventure. 

But now I was smarter. Now I was a bit wiser. And now, I had something to offer. 

I had something that would eliminate the angst of one’s first build in exchange for the joy that would come with constructing and designing a tiny house.

Since those early days when I didn’t even know how to accurately measure a piece of wood, yet alone stain it, I have continued providing more “tinies” and sharing them with travelers across the country. I have created 7 unique tiny house floor plans that will speak to the soul of a person. I have also helped individuals build their own tiny house whether for personal reasons or to create passive income for their families.
